DOWN

"Humility is perpetual quietness of heart. It is to have no trouble. It is never to be fretted or vexed, or irritable. It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me. It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed and despised."

I have really been pondering this quote lately. Despite all the happy, exciting things going on in life like babies and exfoliants, I've been so... down.

Finding quietness of heart when the chips don't fall your way at work is hard. Finding quietness of heart when yet another boy doesn't like you back is hard. Finding quietness of heart when you are 28 and wondering what in the heck you are doing with your life is hard. Finding quietness of heart when you don't feel good enough, pretty enough, thin enough, successful enough or social enough for your own standards or someone else's is hard.

I've said it before and then bulldozed right past it, but this has been one of those weeks where due to a lot of different things happening (and not happening), I feel really behind.

Everyone has these moments, and I'll snap out of mine. It's just been a long, discouraging week. Don't mind me - enjoy your weekend!

  1. This post made me sad. I found your blog through a mutual friend and me (and my mom) are both hooked!! Your post are hilarious and make me want to be a better blogger. That quote hit home with me but in a different way. Hope you have a great weekend and don't let this get you down!! I don't have any encouraging words but I do go back to this quote often... "Faith in God includes faith in His timing."

  2. I hate long, discouraging weeks! My life is nothing like yours, but I certainly do empathaize. Everyone feels that way sometimes, and I commend your bravery for saying so!
Hope you have a good weekend.

  4. We've been going through one of those seasons at our house, too. Though I'm sure for different reasons. Your time will come, probably sooner than you think. God's timing isn't always our timing, but his is certainly the best timing. XO

  5. It must be going around because I've been feeling very down and very behind everyone around me. I wish I had a quick fix or answer for you. All I can say is I love you and I'm here if you need me.

  6. I feel the very same way as you. I challenge you to celebrate the milestones that you are meeting that other people may not - the anniversaries of living independently, the opportunities of spontaneous travel to see family or football, and the ability to choose every day what to do, what to eat, who to spend it with, and where to go. Soon enough, I imagine we will be missing these blessings!

  7. This happens to me every once in a while, too. I usually just have to wait it out, but I do find that getting back into scripture helps. Not saying you've been "out" of scripture, but if you have been, get back in it missy! :)
