(Ignore the color/tint)

  1. You have such unique handwriting. To be honest, most people address their own shower, announcements, etc. BUT if you were REASONABLY priced, your handwriting could be a welcome relief/surprise to someone's letter. Usually wedding calligraphy (very time consuming) is around $2.00 a letter. I would maybe price yourself at $0.50-$0.75 per letter. Does that sound reasonable to you? Or too cheap? You could always start our cheaper then increase your price as your demand grows!! You are so talented. I think you should go for it! I keep all of your letters to go back and look and your hw

  2. How is that you can sing, have nice handwriting, work at the HOF, and the list goes on....where was I when they handed out the talent??

Oh - and if you offered to write the thank you cards too, you'd probably make some mad money!

  3. I would have killed to have someone address my wedding invitations! Your handwriting is beautiful! I would start my prices for addressing wedding invitations at at least $1 per invitation. Go up in your prices depending on how detailed the invitation is.

BTW, I left you a GF award on my blog.

  5. Wow. That's really cool. Handwriting is a dying art. I don't have anything I need written for me though.

You should slap some ads on this blog for some extra cash.

  7. have you thought about advertising in a stationery shop? I've seen that several times, just make a little board with all of your "options," a price list and contact info.

I usually do mine myself, but I've gotten some that probably should have hired the addressing part out ... it definitely makes a difference. I'm sure I'm preaching to choir here.

  8. I needed this information and your services, oh, about a YEAR ago. Thanks a lot. If I ever need anything else addressed though, now I know who to turn to! I seriously LOVE the handwriting, and in my business, everyone has cool handwriting, so that's saying something :)

  10. I think all your blog posts should be done by hand. Just scan some 8.5" X 11" sheets every day.

  11. For extra cash, I do calligraphy for wedding invitations, etc. I usually charge $1 per envelope. The price is affected by the number of invitations (if you are looking at 200 invitations, I will lower the price). For other invitations, I base it on the number of invitations, and whether or not I have to stuff, stamp, etc.
Small showers are usually $2 to $3 per invite. Also, I would take into consideration the level of preparation by the bride, host/hostess, etc. I always ask for a spread sheet with all the info i need (i.e. what goes on outer and inner envlopes). Anything I had to do extra, tracking down people, researching family names, spellings, etc. I usually increased the overall cost by 10%.

I took samples to local stores in my community where people purchase invitations. I actually had a really cheap digital business card printed with all my contact info. The ladies who sell the invitations are super sweet and generally show off my samples, etc. Going around to stationary shops and other places which sell invitations is a really good way to get your name out there. Word of Mouth is awesome as well.

I think you should go for it. Its a great way to pad your wallet.

  12. Thanks for the ideas, y'all! I've done calligraphy lots of times, it is just very time consuming. I appreciate the suggestions and will keep you updated.

And Candace, people actually do pay other people to write their thank you notes. I've seen it before:

  13. To think - I wrote every single thank you note for my wedding and baby events(because we know Jonathan wasn't going to).

You also knew you had something going for you then too. If you start doing this, I will send every bride I know your way.
